POLARIS (“POLARIS,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a mobile application by iWise designed to help users better understand themselves through personalized AI conversations, personality insights, and related features.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

1) Who We Are

This Policy applies to POLARIS on iOS and Android, and related services that link to this Policy.
2) The Core Promise
POLARIS is built around trust:
Personal: POLARIS is designed to tailor responses to you (your context, preferences, and profile).
Private by design: We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for third-party targeted advertising.
Control: You can manage your history, memory, and deletion options in the app.
3) Data We Collect
We collect data in four main ways:
data you provide,
data generated from your use,
data from device permissions you grant, and
data from third-party services that support core functionality (subscriptions, notifications, analytics).
A. Personal Information (Account & Identity)
Name and surname
Date of birth
Birth place (city, country, and may include approximate coordinates based on your selection)
Email address (when you sign up / sign in)
B. Personality & Insight Data (Profile Building)
Visual question answers (from a pool of 32; typically 24 presented per session in randomized order)
Discovery Chat messages (short onboarding conversation)
Personality profile outputs (type name, emoji, short description, dimension scores, strengths)
Numerology-related calculations (derived from name and birth date)
C. User Content & App Data (Ongoing Use)
Chat history (conversations with POLARIS, Guides, and custom personas)
Voice messages and transcripts (audio may be processed to generate text transcripts)
Images you share (for analysis or context)
Custom personas (names, descriptions, styles, prompts you create)
Conversation memory and summaries (structured “memories” or summaries extracted to personalize future chats)
Settings (language, tone, font size, and similar preferences)
D. Usage & Analytics Data (Product Improvement)
Session metadata (start/end time, duration)
Screen views
Event tracking (onboarding steps, subscription flow, chat usage, feature interactions)
Aggregate engagement metrics (message count, active days, streaks, funnel conversion)
E. Subscription & Billing Data
Trial start date
Subscription status and expiration
Plan type (weekly/monthly/yearly as configured)
Purchase receipts and entitlement status (processed via Apple/Google + RevenueCat)
Important: We do not collect or store your full payment card details. Payments are handled by Apple App Store / Google Play.
4) Why We Use Your Data (Purposes)
We process your data to:

create your profile and insights

5) Legal Bases (EEA/UK GDPR) and Similar Frameworks
Where applicable (EEA/UK), we process data under these legal bases:
Contract: to provide the app features you request (profile, chat, reports, subscriptions)
Consent: for optional features (e.g., certain notifications, microphone access, photo access where required)
Legitimate interests: to secure and improve POLARIS, prevent abuse, and understand usage trends
Legal obligation: where we must comply with applicable laws
If you are in Türkiye, similar rights and principles apply under KVKK (Law No. 6698).
6) How We Share Data
We share data only as needed to operate POLARIS:
A. Service Providers (Processors)
We use trusted vendors to run core functions. These providers may process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.

Analytics and performance monitoring
Cloud infrastructure and database hosting
B. Third-Party Services Used by POLARIS
Supabase (Cloud Backend)
Used for: account data, cloud storage, syncing, database, and related backend functions.
Data types: account identifiers, profile data, app content you choose to store/sync, and related metadata.
OpenAI API (AI Features)
Used for: AI chat responses, image understanding, and voice transcription features (if enabled).
Data types may include: chat messages, limited profile context, uploaded images, and voice/transcription content.
We send only what’s needed to provide the requested AI feature.
RevenueCat (Subscriptions)
Used for: subscription status, entitlements, trial/subscription lifecycle management.
Data types may include: app user identifier, subscription status, and purchase/entitlement metadata.
Expo Notifications (Push)
Used for: delivering push notifications.
Data types: push notification token and device-related info necessary for delivery.
Analytics (Optional)
Used for: performance and product analytics (events, sessions, funnels).
Data types: usage metrics and event identifiers (typically not your raw chat content unless explicitly configured).
C. Legal / Safety Sharing
We may disclose information if required to:
comply with law or legal process,
protect users’ safety,
prevent fraud or abuse,
protect our rights and systems.
D. No Selling of Data
We do not sell your personal data.
7) AI Features: Important Notes
POLARIS generates responses using AI. Outputs may be inaccurate or incomplete.
POLARIS is not a medical, mental health, or legal service. Do not rely on it for professional diagnosis or emergency support.
You control what you share. Avoid entering extremely sensitive information if you don’t want it processed for the feature you request.
8) Data Storage & Security
A. Cloud Storage (Supabase)
Your account and application data may be stored in a cloud database via Supabase to support syncing, persistence, and reliability.
B. On-Device Storage
POLARIS may store certain data locally on your device (e.g., cached settings or recent content) for performance and offline experience.
C. Security Measures
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, which may include:
encryption in transit (e.g., TLS),
access controls and least-privilege policies,
logging and monitoring for abuse prevention,
secure key management practices where applicable.
No system is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
9) Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary for the purposes described:
Account data: retained while your account is active, and deleted upon account deletion request (subject to legal requirements).
Chat content, profile data, memories, personas: retained until you delete them in-app or request deletion.
Analytics data: often retained in aggregated form for trend analysis and product improvement.
Backups: may persist for a limited period (e.g., short rolling windows) before being overwritten.
If we must retain certain records for legal, tax, or security reasons, we will do so as required.
10) Your Choices & Controls
A. In-App Controls
Depending on your build, POLARIS may offer:
Delete chat history
Delete memories / turn memory off
Reset profile / restart Discovery
Delete custom personas
Manage notifications
Logout (removes local device cache; cloud data remains unless you delete it)
B. Access, Correction, Deletion
You may request:
access to your personal data,
correction of inaccurate data,
deletion of your data/account,
restriction or objection (where applicable),
data portability (where applicable).

11) App Permissions (Device Access)
POLARIS requests permissions only to provide features you choose to use.
iOS Permissions
Camera (NSCameraUsageDescription): to capture and share images
Microphone (NSMicrophoneUsageDescription): to record voice messages
Photo Library (NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription): to upload images
Speech Recognition (NSSpeechRecognitionUsageDescription): for voice-to-text features
Android Permissions
CAMERA: capture images
RECORD_AUDIO: voice messages
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES: select images
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO: select audio (if supported in your flow)
You can revoke permissions in your device settings (some features may stop working).
12) International Data Transfers
Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers (such as contractual protections).
13) Children’s Privacy
POLARIS is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact support@iwise.co.
14) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you in the app or by other reasonable means. The “Last Updated” date will reflect the latest version.
